I first met Shelby & Justin last year at Shelby’s brother’s wedding (Lindsay & Christian’s Bluestem Wedding Blog post here!). When she contacted me about doing photos for their 5 year anniversary vow renewal I was really excited to be part of such a fun celebration! Shelby told me that their wedding day had poured with rain and their photographer wasn’t experienced in indoor portraits so she didn’t have any great pictures for their walls. It’s unfortunately something I hear a lot, but I’m so honored to come into these stories and capture new moments to hang up on the wall!!

We started out with a lot of family photos and then did a bunch of portraits of Shelby & Justin. I loved how much they enjoyed being together!!

 

As we drove to the backyard ceremony it started to sprinkle. They say rain on your wedding is good luck, so rain on BOTH your wedding and vow renewal must be extra lucky!! Thankfully it let up after a few minutes so we dried off the chairs and got started.

5 years married. 5 year old Nephew. One perfect balloon!

It was also Shelby’s dad’s birthday celebration memorial. So many great things to celebrate in one evening.

Shelby also had a table of details from their wedding day setting out.

How perfect to have a family BBQ in the back yard full of lights.

 

The rain started up again so we had the “first dance” under the awning.

My lens got some raindrops on it but it kind of made for magical flairs!

And since it was raining I thought “lets make it into magic!” for a few last portraits.
