Frost in Fargo

Posted in: daily life

A few weeks ago we had the most amazing few foggy days here in Fargo. It was so mysterious and ethereal. Maybe not the most fun to drive in but for a photographer fog is pretty sweet. I went for a walk with my brother one night and as we passed by the local outdoor ice skating rink I noticed a dad teaching his little girl how to skate. It was such a sweet moment:

Because of the fog the next day we had gorgeous frost on all the branches! So beautiful. My siblings and I were headed down to Minneapolis to visit my other brother (and for me to shoot Jake and Leah’s engagement session). As we were driving I decided I had to pull over and take a few photos. Turned out to be some of the most fun pictures ever! My sis and I were fighting over the camera we both wanted to take photos so bad!!

It was like we stepped into Narnia. One of my favorite quotes from C.S. Lewis’s The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe is when Mr Tumnus finds Lucy in the snowy wood by the lamp post: “It is winter in Narnia, and has been for ever so long, and we shall both catch cold if we stand here talking in the snow. Daughter of Eve from the far land of Spare Oom where eternal summer reigns around the bright city of War Drobe, how would it be if you came and had tea with me?”

My other favorite quote from the same book:

“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”

Gahhh isn’t my sister an amazing photographer!! These are some of my favorite photos of me. Even though I didn’t do my hair or makeup that day, I still love them!

And of course I had to get a few of my brother too…

I had way too much fun with the frost. Way too much. Actually this next week is probably going to be way too much fun too. I’m heading out to Vegas on Sunday for the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention for 5 days. Excited doesn’t even begin to describe how much I’m looking forward to meeting so many of my online photographer friends, learn tons of info, be inspired, stay in a gorgeous suite, meet more friends, and in general love the life I’ve been given! Expect a long post when I get home!!
