Candy Colored World

Posted in: Uncategorized

Day two of the ‘about me’  page explanations. Today’s peak into my personality is probably fairly obvious to anyone cruising around my website.

COLOR – or COLOUR if you are from across the pond.

What can I say about color. It’s something that is in my blood. My great grandfather painted houses for a living. At that time there were no computers to mix paint colors, only eyes. My great grandfather was know all over Bismark as the man who could match color perfectly. No need to paint a whole room over again. He could mix the exact shade and paint over the spot or mark on the wall.

Living in Fargo ND means that 6 months of the year are WHITE. White on the ground. White sky. White roads. White world. Which probably explains why last week when we actually had a clear day I sat and stared at the sky. It was BLUE. I had almost forgotten. How magical. I mean seriously, when was the last time that you appreciated living in a colorful world?

One of my passions in photography is using color. A plain orange wall becomes a canvas. I used to do more B&W (which I still like), but the more I shoot the more I gravitate towards the color copy of an image. It sings. B&W is drama. Color is life. Both are fun!

The color of the month: |  Green.  Fresh, tree-bud green |  In anticipation of spring!

What is your favorite color?

Kris, I am the same way with the black and white vs. color! I used to do a lot of b/w or brown tones, but the more I photograph, the more I love the vivid true colors. Awesome. 🙂
