Fargo Wedding | Chris + Linda | Kris Kandel Photographer

Posted in: fargo, weddings

I met Linda and Chris last year at Nico and Elizabeth’s wedding. A few weeks later they contacted me about doing their wedding and I was so excited. I knew from our first few minutes chatting that they were going to be so much fun!! I only got more excited after doing their engagement session earlier this spring!!

I arrived at St. Mary’s Cathedral at about 11am on a very HOT humid day, so thankful for AC in the church! We decided to start with the first look in the sanctuary and formal photos before the early ceremony. It seems that a lot of catholic churches like early services for weddings so they can do their normal Saturday evening Mass. Which makes it a bit of a challenge to get all the  formal photos done before hand!

I adore first look photos. Just look how happy Chris is at seeing his bride!!

Isn’t St. Mary’s a gorgeous church?!!

These groomsmen were the craziest bunch I’ve worked with!! My second photographer got all these close up of their crazy faces, so as I edited through the images I kept finding gems like the images below, and would start laughing at my computer!

A quick sandwich and it was already time for the ceremony!

The priest asked Chris how he felt about getting married … two thumbs up!

The new Mr & Mrs!!!

Since we had some time before the reception and dinner  we headed outside for the fun photos of the couple and wedding party around the outside of the church and then a few locations around town.

So excited to be married!!

9 bridesmaids, 9 groomsmen, 3 ushers, 3 kids, and the couple = a LOT of people!!

More hilarious faces…

Seriously there was never a dull moment! Too much fun!

Ok, last set of groomsemen. I just can’t even… I mean… how…

The reception was held at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, where Linda & Chris danced and laughed their way through the evening!

Chris is from Tanzania, so his parents flew in for the wedding! It was so fun to see some of the cultural traditions come out at the wedding. One tradition is the mother of the groom gives gifts to the Mother of the bride, since traditionally the bride leaves her family to live with the groom’s family. It was such a sweet moment full of laughter, clapping, dancing and that high pitch trill that only African woman can do!

Then it was the couple’s turn to receive gifts and be danced around!

What a fun evening full of music and rhythm! Thank you for asking me to be a part of your special day Linda & Chris, I’ve enjoyed getting to know you both so much!
