Elizabeth contacted me just a few weeks ago about her September 1st wedding! She’s a brave woman planning a wedding in less than 6 weeks. Her main reason for the timing was her sister, who is in the military, was going to be in the states – a perfect reason if you ask me! I’d want my sister at my wedding too!
The whole wedding was at the Ramada plaza, so I showed up for the last of the getting ready shots in their room:
Then headed downstairs for the first look and a few quick portraits by the fountain & chandler before heading out to a park for a few minutes.
I can’t help but smile at some of these photos. They have such great contagious smiles!
Nico’s family from Tanzania couldn’t make it to the wedding, but he had a cousin in the area who was the ‘adopted father’ for the day!
Then back to the hotel for the ceremony! This day just flew by!
I love how Nico danced down the aisle after the ceremony!
Nico had the most amazing wedding band, so cool!
The crystal chandeliers in the Ramada plaza are so elegant, they remind me of the Phantom of the Opera.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love toasts and the laughter that comes with them?! Yeah, I love photographing toasts!
1st dance as husband and wife. So much joy.
One of the things I loved about this wedding was the cultural diversity – I was born in Africa and spent several years in Asia as a child as well, so to talk to people from Uganda, Pakistan, Tanzania and other countries was so fun! The accents and stories of how they knew each other, how they found NDSU or got jobs in Fargo. So interesting!
And the music at the dance was awesome. Lots of African rhythm going on!
Elizabeth and Nico, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your special day! I will be getting your disk of images ready and mailed out to you early next week!

Nico and the groomsmen ended up being a bit late for photos so by the time we drove to the park I literally had 20 minutes to do bridal portraits, wedding party, and family photos!! But everything turned out lovely! It was cool to chat with the wedding party about where everyone was from: Tanzania, Nepal, and I believe, Angola (sorry Nico if my memory is wrong!)- reminded me of my childhood overseas.
