September 22, 2012 was a special day. Not only was I photographing a wedding, but it was my cousin’s wedding!! The whole day was so smooth and relaxed, really fun, but also odd for me to know so many guests and actually get to sit down to visit with people at the reception! My sister in law summed it up perfectly when she said it felt like, “Take your family to work day.” : )
McKayla and John were fabulous (see their engagement session here!). Smiling, laughing, enjoying the day. They got married at the Bagg Bonanza Farm in the large barn. The upper level where the ceremony was held is still being finished so my uncle spent extra time building the backdrop for the ceremony himself! I used the backdrop to show off the dress because it’s so fun being able to put meaningful details into the photos!
My uncle helped the groom get ready … and maybe threatened him just a *little* bit to be good to his daughter. : )
First look photos are always a favorite!
It was sooo cold and windy, McKayla needed a shawl, but even then she had goosebumps. I kept telling her to pretend it was 90 degrees, lol! Even though she was cold she couldn’t stop smiling all day!!
We walked across the field to a rustic building next to some fun yellow trees. The brilliant blue skies with the yellow leaves was so gorgeous for wedding photos!
The next one is my favorite photo of the day!
This necklace belonged to her grandmother who passed away a while ago, every time she touched it she said, “Grandma is here today.” – so special.
You can tell that John is madly in love with her, and so excited to be married!!
The wedding party came a little bit later so we made the rounds of the property again. Soooo lovely with the red, green, blue and pops of yellow/orange flowers.
And bridesmaids in cowboy boots … yes!
Back inside out of the cold wind, ready for the ceremony to start.
Love the reaction photos of Mckayla and her dad just before walking down the aisle – credit goes to my 2nd shooter (AKA: my Mom) for those!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs.!!!!
We headed downstairs to the reception hall which was lovely! Fall colors, candles, and feathers.
After the meal we headed outside at sunset for a few goofy photos. Mckayla put on her sneakers and we played around with nothing special in mind – just fun!
Could be movie posters right?!
Thank you McKayla and John for inviting me to be your photographer! It was special to be part of your day and watch your joy! Here’s to a long happy life! Love you guys!
